The Labours of Our Heroes’ Past Shall Never Be in Vain

NOA President extols the virtues and legacies of Prof. Paul Ogbuehi

The President of the Nigerian Optometric Association, Dr.Anderson Chimeziri has made assurances that the association will do its very best to ensure that the Paul Ogbuehi Memorial Project(Eye Hospital) located at Umuokpara, Umuahia is completed.

” The sacrifices that Professor Paul Olekanma Ogbuehi made for the profession have benefitted us all and even generations to come. We owe him appreciation by honouring him,” Dr.Chimeziri, said.

The President of the Nigerian Optometric Association, Dr Anderson Chimeziri on September 21st, 2023, made an inspection visit to the ongoing project, which had been abandoned for some years, now. This was in a show of appreciation for the late academician and leader’s doggedness and vision that led to the onset of the study of Optometry in Nigeria as well as inspiring the growth of the profession.

NOA President was joined by Chief Joanah Ogbuehi, the widow of Prof.Ogbuehi, former Financial Secretary of NOA and Secretary of the Prof.Ogbuehi Memorial Project, Committee, 2016, Dr Emmanuel Nwaji among others.

The project which was initiated by NOA to immortalize the Optometry legend, was commenced by the association with assistance from the Ogbuehi committee of friends who had felt a need to identify with the project. The project stopped at the roofing stage.

The President of NOA appealed to Optometrists, well-meaning individuals and philanthropists to identify with the project by giving financial and other forms of support to the project.
