PROF UCHE IKONNE COMMISSIONS OPTOMETRY HOUSE

As part of activities at the ongoing 45th Nigerian Optometric Association (NOA) Annual Conference & Vision Expo; the Optometry House was unveiled on Thursday, July 14, 2020.

The epoch-making event, which took place immediately after the inspection of the exhibition stand of the NOA conference and scientific expo, was anchored by Prof. E.U. Ikonne, President of the Nigerian Postgraduate College of Optometry, who performed the ribbon cutting.

The visibly excited academician, pillar of NOA, and politician showered encomiums on the National Executive Council (NEC) of NOA for remaining steadfast and unwavering in their drive to lift the association forward.

“You have made us proud,” he said. The erudite optometrist backed up his accolades with a financial donation for the Optometry House Project.

Optometrists at the event danced in excitement for the feat of having a secretariat.

The event also included the cutting of NOA cake and a tour of the rooms.

The President of NOA commended NOA members for all their support, saying,
“If we believe, we can. This and more will come, if we continue to work together and believe in big things, for the good of NOA”

The President also commended members of the Board of Trustees for how they have led NOA in their advisory capacity and for the seed they sowed in setting the ball rolling for this project.
“You are the real MVPs,” he said.

The BOT Chairman, Dr. Nwakuso Aruotu, commended the NOA President and his team for working together and giving NOA a befitting secretariat and an enriching conference.

“We hear about all the sacrifices, you are making. There is always a reward, for dedication to service, given in due time. Continue to work together. “We are proud of you.”

Members of the BOT were celebrated as NEC members sang with their portraits which would all find a place in the secretariat, hall of fame.

The event was wrapped up with prayers over the secretariat, for optometry in Nigeria and the nation of Nigeria.
