NOA Moves to Strengthen ties with Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria

Nigerian Optometric Association(NOA) is not resting in its oars, in a bid to ensure Optometry maintains its rightful place in the scheme of things as regards the Nigerian health care delivery system.

Recently, concerned Optometrists, as well as NOA, had decried the incursion into Optometry core service areas in Nigeria by a group known as myPharmacy.

Determined to address this anomaly; the leadership of the Nigerian Optometric Association NOA led by our indefatigable President, Dr Obinna Awiaka paid a courtesy visit to the President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), the renowned, Mazi Sam Ohabunwa on 24th August 2021 at the Pharmacy House in Lagos.

The meeting among other things was aimed at strengthening the ties between the sister professional bodies and seeking better ways of collaboration towards improving the health indices in the healthcare industry in Nigeria.

Mazi Sam Ohabunwa, dissociated the PSN from the myPharmacy group Optometry related activities; furthermore, far-reaching deliberations bordering on issues of professionalism and conduct of members were extensively dwelt on in the discussions.

The President was accompanied by a high powered delegation including; the former AFCO President, Dr Cecil Nwafor; the Secretary-General of NOA Lagos state chapter, Dr Nakeno Abada, as well as Dr Lanre Dixon and Dr Uluaku Kola- Olarere all from NOA Lagos state chapter.

The visit was in furtherance of the strategic advocacy drive of the current NOA administration.
