Dr Raymond Chinonso Aguboshim holds a Doctor of Optometry from the Imo State University, Owerri, and an
Advanced Certificate (Distinction) in Data Processing and Programme from the West African Institute of
Computer Technology, Owerri among other academic qualifications that have equipped him with the requisite
skills for effective professional service.
As a budding optometry leader from his university days, he was at various times elected Public Relations
Officer of the Nigerian Optometric Association (NOSA), Member representing Optometry in the University’s
Students’ Union Parliament where he chaired the Ethics and Privileges Committee, and President of the NOSA.
During his formative years, he also held other leadership responsibilities which include among others General
Secretary, Mbaitoli Undergraduates Association (IMSU Chapter); Student Tutor, Academic Students’
Association (ASA); and Academic Coordinator, COSA-NOSA Joint Academic Forum, providing tutorial
support for both optometry and non-optometry undergraduates. During the period of his mandatory National
Youth Service, Dr Aguboshim was President, Health Services and Campaign (CDS) group while serving in
Kwara state, Nigeria.
Devoted to contributing significantly in advancing eye and health care services in Nigeria and globally through
advocacy and professional services, Dr Aguboshim possesses significant clinical experience and competence
garnered from years of qualitative professional practice post-graduation across both public and private sector
clinical positions. Research-savvy with publications in peer-reviewed media and clinically-proficient, Dr.
Aguboshim is a member of the Family of Optometric Mentors, a member of the Mentoring Committee of the
NOA, Lagos chapter, and is currently the Clinic Director of Vision Pride Eye Care Centre, Lagos.
In contributing to the development of optometry in Nigeria, Dr Aguboshim led the technical teams that
successfully produced the first ever Compendium of Optometry in Nigeria (2017) and the book, Optometry
in Nigeria: History and Perspectives (2018). He is currently an Associate Editor of Optometry News Now,
the oldest optometry-specific news media in Nigeria. He is a trained Advocate for Eye Health Access in
Nigeria, and a recipient of several Recognition Awards from various organizations.
A motivational speaker, an accomplished writer, aspiring teacher and avid reader, Dr Aguboshim is the current
national Public Relations Officer of the NOA, and chairs the Publications Committee.
